Together We Stand Foundation was started while we owned a restaurant a few years back. We noticed veterans wearing their ball caps and shirts sitting alone and never addressing each other. “How do we get these men and women together?” That is when the Complimentary Veterans Luncheon was born. A date was set for a Veterans Only free lunch, and we had 11 show up that day. What we saw was the interaction and exchange of information between these people never seen before. 2 years later we provide a monthly Veterans Luncheon at the American Legion in Crockett, Texas. These days the attendees’ number from 50 to 70 each month. We still see those to came to the restaurant who have now joined the Legion and have new friends to share their time and stories with. Most of the Veterans spend their time alone so this camaraderie gives them a new avenue to their lives. We also reach out to the shut-in veterans and deliver meals to them be it at home or assisted living facilities. The Together We Stand Foundation doesn’t stop there, as we assist in providing transportation to VA hospitals, coordinate with other organizations to provide yard work, help with vehicle or home repairs, and to put on fundraising events for those Veterans in dire need of assistance.
Once a month we host a Complimentary Veteran Luncheon at the Local American Legion in the dining hall between 12:00 to 2:00. The Luncheon starts with the Prayer and then they line up and we eat and visit.
We invite originations to come and do presentations for any service offered to veterans.
The Luncheon consist of 2 Main courses, 4 sides, Salad, Dessert, Sweet and unsweet tea and water. It is buffet style, to insure they get full.
Thanksgiving and Christmas is the full Holiday meal, All vets receive a container of cookies.
At Together WE Stand Foundation, our mission is to bring Veterans together in the community. We believe that everyone deserves a safe and comfortable place to go and enjoy a meal with other Veterans and assist in anyway we can. We work tirelessly to make that a reality.
